History Dar al-Hikmah Library (Kuantan)

Dar al-Hikmah Library (Kuantan) is a library under main campus Gombak to support the
curriculum and research needs of the IIUM Kuantan Community that focuses mainly on
medical and health sciences.

Chronological History

August 1997: The library was first established to serve medical campus in Jalan Hospital
Campus (JHC). At that time, the library was manned by 5 staff and Tuan Haji Sayadek Sata
was the first Head of Library.

June 2003: Another library in Indera Mahkota Campus (IMC) started operating as the main
library for Kuantan Campus and it is located at Kulliyyah of Medicine building.

April 2007: New IMC library building in progress. The building was completed in 2011.

July 2011: The library moved from Kulliyyah of Medicine to its own building in IMC.

1st January 2013: All library services and facilities have moved to IMC and library space at
JHC has been given to Kulliyyah of Medicine.

July 2018: Started operating to serve staff and students at Sultan Ahmad Shah Medical
Centre @IIUM (SASMEC@IIUM). One staff from Dar al-Hikmah Library (Kuantan)
(previously IMC) is stationed at the SASMEC@IIUM library on a weekly rotation basis and
the collection is available for reference only.
